With epic battery life, a fantastic keyboard and every possible port, the Lenovo ThinkPad T is a productivity worker's dream machine. There are lighter business laptops and systems with more processing power, but the ThinkPad T offers the best balance between portability and usability on the market today. Whether you're a corporate IT manager, a worker bee in a cubicle or just an individual who needs to get work done at home or school, you'll benefit a great deal from this inch laptop's best-in-class keyboard, wide array of ports and plus hours of battery life.
It's one of the best ThinkPads and best business laptops around. We strongly recommend purchasing the T with a p, non-touch display and the 6-cell 72 Whr battery. The ThinkPad T has the familiar but classy raven-black, rectangular ThinkPad aesthetic, with one small twist. The lid, sides and bottom are all covered in a luxurious soft-touch material that's a slightly darker shade of black than typical Lenovo ThinkPads and looks similar to the outside of the X1 Carbon.
It's a shame that Lenovo apparently ran out of paint or money and didn't apply this material to the deck, where it would have felt really comfortable against my wrists. At Switching from the lightweight 3-cell battery to the extended, 6-cell battery unit adds about 0. The laptop is made from glass-fiber-reinforced plastic, while the lid is composed of either a magnesium hybrid or plastic material, depending on whether you get the full-HD screen better or low-res display worse.
The Dell Latitude tips the scales at a heftier 4 pounds while adding 0. Asus' lightweight AsusPro B is much lighter at 2. In line with its smaller screen size, Lenovo's inch ThinkPad 13 is 3. The ThinkPad T has every connection a productivity user could want. A Thunderbolt 3 port allows users to connect an entire universe of high-speed Thunderbolt and USB Type-C peripherals, including universal chargers and docking stations.
While some notebook manufacturers use firmware that prevents their laptops from using a third-party USB Type-C charger, Lenovo works with any power brick, but protects you from voltage surges with its anti-fry technology. The T's right surface leaves room for two more USB 3. What more could you possibly want? The ThinkPad T's body is built to withstand some punishment. There's also an optional fingerprint reader. The ThinkPad T's inch, x non-touch display outputs sharp images with decent, but unimpressive color quality and brightness.
When I watched a trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, fine details such as the hairs in Chris Hemsworth's beard and the lines in Jeff Goldblum's forehead were pronounced. Colors like the red in the hero's cape or the green of the Hulk's skin were mostly accurate, but not too vibrant. The laptop is also available with a x display, but we strongly recommend that you get the p panel we tested, because it allows you to fit a lot more content on the screen at once. According to our colorimeter, the T's display can reproduce a modest 73 percent of the sRGB color gamut, a bit below the inch laptop category average of 91 percent, but about on a par with the Dell Latitude and ThinkPad The screen achieved a Delta-E error rating of 2.
The Latitude and ThinkPad 13 were a bit more accurate still. I wish the T's screen were a little brighter and had wider viewing angles. Although more than adequate for head-on viewing indoors, the matte panel's colors started to fade when I moved more than 45 degrees to the left or right.
The display measured nits on our light meter, a bit below the category average, the ThinkPad 13 nits , the X1 Carbon nits and the AsusPro B nits. Still, the Dell Latitude is significantly dimmer, registering just nits.
The ThinkPad T's front-mounted speakers produce sound that's loud enough to fill a small conference room with your presentation or video, but forget about using the laptop as a stereo. When I listened to Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You," the percussion sounded so harsh it felt like my eardrum was being poked with a sharp object. However, at least I could hear a clear separation of sound with the vocals coming from one side and the instruments and the drums on the other.
Discerning typists might want to purchase the ThinkPad T for its keyboard alone. The laptop's snappy typing experience is the best I've had on any laptop I tested so far this year. Keyboard was tested by dropping ball bearings from a meter above for 90 mins I think I read.
So it sounds like it can take a hammering. Not sure about the trackpad yet but I haven't had a chance to play around with the settings. Isn't the best looking thing in the world but does the job. I like that you can dock it to an external battery which makes it last 15 hours?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. Joined: Mar 16, Messages: Likes Received: I've been having an internal discussion about the laptop that I want to purchase in the near future.
I want durability and reliability so a corporate-spec laptop would be more to my liking. My company was purchased recently, and the company that purchased us gave everyone Dell Latitudes. I forget the model, as I rarely use it, as I prefer my desktop server. So, the Dell vs Lenovo comparison was already something I was considering. Sorry for being along-winded, but any thoughts you have going forward would be appreciated.
I did see one review of the Lenovo and the only "negative" in the review was an observation that the display was not as bright as the reviewer wold have liked. If you go with Lenovo stick with the Thinkpad business line and stay away from the other consumer end products. Several years ago Lenovo was caught installing hidden tracking software in the consumer line.

My son's has had a failed motherboard, and the battery has had to be replaced twice, My daughter's has had no problems. I just think they seem a little basic. My brother has two dell laptops he has had no problems with.

This was for about 26 laptops and over my current 4 yrs at the company. Support is fantastic. Never had an issue. Currently have an X1 carbon and no issue so far. Support is pretty bad. Our ceo runs a macbook air.
